MCA for Practitioner and Provider Services Part 3 DoLs /Awareness of LPS new legislation delivered by St Thomas Training

The half day training session will give participants an overall understanding of how the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (“DoLS”) apply to their day-to-day work settings.
NB: participants need to understand that a House of Lords report, followed by a Supreme Court judgement, both of which were published in March 2014, have fundamentally altered what DoLS are all about. Therefore this session is relevant even if you have previously attended DoLS training.
To give participants an understanding of how the new Liberty Protection Safeguards will apply to their work settings, and to examine what changes they need to make in order to manage the transition from DoLS to LPS. NB: At the time of writing this outline the Code of Practice, and various regulations, are still to be finalised with the implementation of LPS now delayed until April 2022.
Who should attend?
Social workers, care managers, independent support assistants and occupational therapists. It is essential for all participants to have a good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 prior to attending part 3.
This course is a virtual course run via Zoom or Teams - joining instructions will be sent to via diary invite a week before the course date. Please note, this course will have regular breaks for participants so please ensure you take yourself away from the screen. The course is aimed to be interactive.Essential Information
